AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT (ASE) UPDATE
Over the past year, the PTO has strengthened the ASE program by implementing clearer policies, procedures, and structure to create a more consistent experience for students and families.
Despite these enhancements, in collaboration with school leadership, we have determined that beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, ASE will no longer be offered in the school building.
Persistent challenges that led to this decision include:
Limited space and scheduling flexibility within the school
Complex supervision and dismissal processes needed to keep students safe
Adherence to attendance and pickup
Extensive coordination demands, including managing instructors, classroom space, staffing, and daily coverage
Impact to school staff and resources
Many of these issues are structural and cannot be resolved simply by adding more manpower. As a result, the program’s demands have exceeded what is sustainable within the school building and a volunteer-led model.
Going forward, the Tremont PTO remains committed to supporting enrichment opportunities and will:
Share and promote programs offered by trusted local instructors as part of their off-site, independently run programs.
We understand this change may be disappointing. We truly appreciate the enthusiasm and support families have shown ASE and are grateful to our volunteers who helped make ASE possible over the years.
We look forward to connecting you with after school enrichment opportunities in a new way going forward.
